Kuvaus

I am looking for an LVI professional to re-pipe an existing Mitsubishi Ecodan air-to-water heat pump and a 15 kW electric backup boiler/tank into a permanent series configuration. The house uses Uponor underfloor heating as the distribution system. Currently, the two systems are piped separately: to use the electric boiler, I have to manually shut down the Ecodan and disconnect its Grundfos circulation pump to allow a secondary Wilo pump to circulate from the boiler tank. I want to eliminate this manual switching of pumps and hardware.

The goal is to connect the units so that the Ecodan acts as the primary heater, with the return water passing through it first and then through the electric boiler before heading to the floor loops. This setup should allow the electric boiler to act as a compensatory heat source during extreme cold. I do not require full automation; I am comfortable manually turning the boiler’s heating elements on and off as needed, but the plumbing and water circulation must be integrated so that both units can remain physically "online" and contribute to the flow simultaneously.

The project requires an analysis of the current pump configuration (Wilo/Grundfos) to ensure correct flow rates and the installation of necessary check valves or bypasses to allow the system to operate safely in this series arrangement.
